Westchester County is a suburban county with about 950,000 residents. It is part of the New York Metropolitan area. Westchester County is located in the southeastern part of New York State. Westchester County is divided into Northern and Southern sub-regions. At the closest point, Westchester County is only a few miles north of Manhattan. There are six cities and 19 towns which are broken down individually into municipalities; cities, towns, villages and hamlets. Westchester County has a total area of approximately 500 square miles.
